For the VANDA conference to be extraordinary, its social activities must be too. Therefore we will offer an exciting and diverse program of social and cultural activities to make your time at the conference an unforgettable experience. PILATES

Pilates is a full-body workout to strengthen the deep muscles, especially in the core. It combines controlled movements with special breathing techniques. The training improves posture, flexibility and balance.

BACK FLEXIBILITY

Back flexibility training strengthens the back muscles and promotes better posture. Gentle stretching and strengthening exercises improve mobility and relieve tension. It helps to prevent back problems and improve general well-being.

YOGA

Yoga is an ancient practice that harmonizes body, mind and soul through asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation. It promotes flexibility, strength and relaxation. Yoga can reduce stress and improve general well-being.

TALK CLIMATE CHANGE WITH A GEOLOGIST

Geologist Tom Griffiths presents the earth scientist's answer to some common climate change myths like: "the climate has always changed, so climate change isn't a problem!" Followed by a group discussion about the best ways to fight climate denial - is just telling people the facts enough?

We offer guided tours through Vienna and chosen Viennese museums with reference to anthropological research. All tours have a limited number of participants (20) and therefore require registration, please see the costs below. The meeting point for all tours is the Infopoint. Please note, that the respective tour could take longer than the specified 90min slot.

Guided Museum Tour: Weltmuseum Wien 

Visit the treasures of the Weltmuseum Wien, formerly the Museum of Ethnology. The exhibitions of the museum are dedicated to the better understanding of individual cultures and regions of the world, and offer a comparative approach to the entire spectrum of cultural diversity.

Guided City Tour: Socialist Vienna

You always wanted to know more about the development of Vienna after the end of the First World War? The Socialist Vienna tour will give you a general overview. The tour focuses on the Karl-Marx-Hof ("One kilometre of Art Deco") and the multi-functional Amalienbad, the largest and most modern bathing establishment in Central Europe in 1926, a symbol of a new physical culture.

Guided City Tour: Decolonizing Vienna

This walk sets out in search of traces of the colonial past. The focus is on how the discipline of botany, which emerged in the 19th century, is interwoven with white supremacy and colonialism. Monuments, street names and city history are taken up and brought into new relationships.

Guided City Tour: Jewish Vienna

This tour traces the history of the Jews in Vienna through buildings and squares, but also individual fates. Memorials such as the one on Judenplatz or the "Stones of Remembrance" in the streets of Vienna ensure that the crimes of the Shoah are not forgotten.
